The train to Edolo is not the quick way

The Brescia–Edolo branch runs up the Val Camonica with many stops and modest speed. From Edolo a bus climbs to Ponte di Legno and on to the Tonale pass in about an hour. That adds up to roughly four hours — for a place only 150 km away by road.

Ponte di Legno and Tonale are one ski area

Ponte di Legno sits in the valley, Tonale on the pass at 1,880 metres, and lifts join them into a single area with the Presena glacier. Sleeping is cheaper down in the valley, skiing is easier from the top; a ski bus runs between them. Where your hotel is decides both your journey time and whether chains are needed on the final climb.

The transfer

≈ €270 per car, 2 hours 20 minutes from the terminal to your hotel door. It is the cheapest mountain run in our price list, because the resort is closer to Milan than the rest. The driver tracks the flight and waits with a name sign, skis and boards travel free, and winter tyres and chains are in every car.

The gap is at its widest here: €20–35 by train against €270. But the train takes twice as long as the car, and for four people it works out at €68 each — do the sum for your group.
