A bus every three hours is the bottleneck
Trains to Châtillon-Saint-Vincent run regularly, but after that the choice is thin: the SAVDA bus climbs to Cervinia in about an hour and leaves roughly every three hours. The ticket is €3–5, but if you miss a departure the wait is long, at a station with no waiting room. Out of high season there are fewer services still.
Across the border to Zermatt and back
Cervinia and Swiss Zermatt are linked by lifts across the glacier, and in clear weather you can ski over for the day and return the same evening. It is an international crossing by cable car, so carry your passport, and the extended ski pass is bought separately.
