The train really does get here
That is rare in the Dolomites and the main advantage of Kronplatz if you travel without a car. The Fortezza–San Candido line runs down the Pusteria valley; you can get off at Perca, closest to the base station of the lift, or at Brunico, which has more hotels and a local bus. From Venice it works out at about 4.5 hours with a change at Fortezza.
One mountain, lifts on three sides
Kronplatz rises straight out of the valley on three sides at once: from Brunico-Riva, from Perca and from Valdaora. Hotels are spread across all three, and your choice decides which gondola you walk to in the morning. Give the hotel in your booking rather than “Kronplatz”: it is twenty kilometres by road between the sides of the mountain.
The transfer
