Getting there

How to get from Marco Polo to Arabba

Checked: 5 September 2026 · prices and timetables from official operator data
Neither a train nor a direct airport bus comes here. You travel via Belluno or Bolzano and change to a local service, which in winter takes half a day. A private transfer is ≈ €330 — 2 hours 30 minutes direct, with skis and at any hour. This is the case where the car wins on time rather than on money.

There is no direct route

Neither Arabba nor the foot of the Marmolada has a station, and no direct bus runs from Marco Polo. Every route is assembled from parts: a train to Belluno or Bolzano, then a local service up the valley, often with another change. In winter that takes five to seven hours — effectively your whole arrival day.

Arabba, the Marmolada and the Sellaronda

Arabba sits on the Sellaronda circuit and is linked by lifts to Val di Fassa, Alta Badia and Val Gardena. From here you also reach the Marmolada glacier, the highest point in the Dolomites, by cable car from Malga Ciapela. The Dolomiti Superski pass covers all of it, so the only question is where you sleep.

The transfer

≈ €330 per car, 2 hours 30 minutes from the terminal to your hotel door. The price is agreed before you fly, the driver tracks the flight and waits with a name sign, skis and boards travel free, and winter tyres and chains are in every car. For four people that is €83 each — and you are on the slopes the same day, not the next.

This is the rare case where we honestly recommend the car: by public transport it is half a day with two changes. Saving €300 costs you a day of your holiday — do the sum yourself.
